Blue Raiders set to defend C-USA title in Texarkana

TEXARKANA, Ark. – Middle Tennessee is back in action Friday and Saturday at the Irish Creek Intercollegiate, hosted by Conference USA rival Charlotte at The Club at Irish Creek.

  • As the 2020 Conference USA Championship was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Middle Tennessee remains the two-time defending champs as they claimed the team title in 2018 and 2019 to advance to NCAA Regionals
  • Defending their C-USA crown would give the Blue Raiders their fourth team title of the season, a feat that hasn’t been accomplished at MT since 2007-08
  • Head Coach Mark McEntire is employing a lineup that includes two true freshmen (Kevin Jegers and Owen Stamper) and only one Blue Raider who competed in the 2019 Conference USA Championship (Tanner Owens)

“What a crazy year it has been for college golf. I am very proud of this team and what they have accomplished this season. All year all we have talked about is the conference championship. It is a very tough golf course and you have to be extremely disciplined to play well. The first goal is to finish in the Top 4 after 54 holes of stroke play, we can’t get ahead of ourselves before accomplishing that. If we are disciplined on the course we will have a good chance to be in that Top 4 and advance to match play.” –  Head Coach Mark McEntire
