Hyderabad: An engineering student in Telangana allegedly posed as an IAS officer and duped several people. The man allegedly promised government jobs to his targets and earned Rs 80 lakh. Not only this, but the accused procured two cars, a motorcycle and a house by cheating people.
The accused was identified as Barla Laxminarayana. The 22-year-old accused, who is a resident of Beerpur mandal, is a third-year B Tech student.
Accused hired two persons to pose as driver, personal assistant
The accused allegedly introduced himself as an IAS official posted as Joint Collector in Mancherial. The youth even hired two men to pose as his driver and personal assistant and to make his lies look convincing.
The accused told his targets that he would get them a government job if they were ready to pay Rs 3 to 5 lakh. The police learned about the accused when two persons, who were cheated by the accused, approached them and lodged complaints, The News Minute reported.
Accused cheated around 29 people
Further probe into the allegations revealed that the accused cheated at least 29 persons of Rs 80 lakh. The police located the accused and nabbed him. He was remanded in judicial custody.
Man posing as CBI officer dupes unemployed youths
In April this year, a man was arrested in Telangana for allegedly posing as a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officer and duping several people. The cops also seized a dummy revolver, fake ID cards and appointment letters from the accused man’s possession.
