3.2 quake 12 Mar 11:24 pm (GMT -6)
Just 17 minutes ago, a 3.2-magnitude earthquake struck near Odessa, Ector County, Texas, USA. The tremor was recorded late at night on Friday 12 March 2021 at 11:24 pm local time, at a very shallow depth of 4.6 miles below the surface.
The event was filed by the United States Geological Survey, the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 2.9.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Odessa (pop. 119,000) located 7 miles from the epicenter, Gardendale (pop. 1,600) 9 miles away, Midland (pop. 133,000) 13 miles away, and West Odessa (pop. 22,700) 14 miles away. In Andrews (pop. 13,800, 32 miles away), and Monahans (pop. 7,700, 42 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
