Will you travel once you are vaccinated?

America’s airports are seeing an uptick in activity this spring, which is a big change from the near-empty buildings of the past year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“Now that March is in the rear-view mirror, a look back saw 26 of the month’s 31 days top 1 million in checkpoint volume, the best month for throughput in a very, very long time,” Lisa Farbstein, spokesperson for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), posted on Twitter on Thursday.

“Overall, over the past month, we went cash positive at the beginning of March,” said Barry Biffle, president and CEO of Denver-based Frontier Airlines, on Bloomberg Surveillance on Thursday. “And that’s just a reflection of the demand that’s out there. You think about the vaccine, it’s just unlocking all of this demand.”

As the coronavirus vaccine rollout continues, President Joe Biden announced his plan for all adults to be eligible for the vaccine by May 1 and his hope that people can  gather in small groups for the Fourth of July holiday.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has not changed its travel recommendations, maintaining that people, including those who are vaccinated, should continue to avoid nonessential travel in order to reduce chances of getting and spreading COVID-19. If people must travel, they should wait two weeks until after they have received their second dose of the vaccine, according to the CDC, because that’s how much time it takes for the body to build protection.

If you received your vaccine, do you plan on traveling this year?

If so, where do you plan to go and why? Will any aspect of traveling worry you once you are vaccinated? Please explain.

Did you book your trip before your vaccine appointment?
